The ACA Needs a Web-Master

The ACA needs someone who will take over and manage the web-site. This is a vital position for the Association as the Web-Site provides a window for the outside world. Rich McVey has been the Web-Master from the very beginning (10 years) and  has asked to be allowed to retire! If you would like to step-up or know a skilled young Ammo Troop who would like to help out please email me at Fred Ohern.

Pass the Word: The Air Force is accessing Prior Service AMMO Troops (2W0) with Specific Years of Completed Service

The U.S. Air Force is accessing Prior Service AMMO Troops (2W0XX) with Specific Years of Completed Service.  This is being done to fill gaps in experience in the workforce that cannot be satisfied through normal accessions and workforce sustaining actions (Category 2 AFSC).  The chart below identifies the completed years of service required to be eligible and the number of prior service 2W0XX the USAF is seeking to bring back in to the active ranks.

For Example in the chart below: The Air Force is accessing 33 prior 2W0XX troops with 10 years of completed service and 65 troops with 15 years of completed service.  This is a hugh opportunity for troops that separated and are having second thoughts about their decision.

Completed Years of Service
AFSC 10 11 12 13 14 15 18
2W0X1 33 40 15 17 10 65 52

For more information and specific eligibility requirements, contact the Munitions Career Field Manager, Chief Scott Heisterkamp (AF/A4LW) at DSN: 225-0780 or Comm: (703) 695-0780, the Air Force Personnel Center, or the Air Force Recruiting Service.

Fallen Ammo Troop: SrA Sean McGinnis

Sean Patrick McGinnis, 23, died Jan. 17, 2010, in Alamogordo, N.M. He was born Nov. 14, 1986, during a Cowboys game to Stephen and Regan McGinnis. As a child he was bright, curious and loving; as a teen he was so tenderhearted he once “relocated” horned toads nearer an ample supply of red ants.

He attended the Episcopal School, Notre Dame Junior High, Wichita Falls High School and chose to graduate early from Harrell Accelerated Learning Center so he could join the Air Force, a dream that began at age 13.

After basic training in San Antonio he was station at Ramstein Air Force Base where one of his proudest accomplishments was playing a small role in stopping a terrorist attempt to infiltrate the base. He called touring Europe the best experience of his life, spending New Year’s Eve in Paris at age 19. He drove the Autobahn, saw the Berlin wall, discovered German beer and convinced the chef at a tiny Parisian cafe to make him fried chicken.

Sean wanted to be and was a hero to his friends and family. He protected the weak, feared no one, always spoke his mind and was willing to die for his country. The world has lost a fine man, a loving son, grandson and devoted brother. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The McGinnis family requested contributions/donations to the “Make a Wish Foundation” in Sean’s name in lieu of flowers or gifts.  If anyone wishes to send a card, please send to: Mr and Mrs Steve McGinnis’s; 5300, Professional Drive; Apt 113; Wichita Falls Texas 76302
