The Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt) Richard A. Gauvin Memorial Scholarship was established to award scholarships to eligible dependents of munitions personnel who held AFSC 461XX, 465XX or 2W0X1 on active, reserve, or ANG duty in the service of the USAF.

RECENT CHANGES TO THE GAUVIN SCHOLARSHIP:

Beginning 2024, the Gauvin Scholarship will be administered by the AMMO Chiefs Association (ACA). The Air Force Combat Ammunition Center (AFCOMAC) staff and AFCOMAC Board of Advisors (MAJCOM Munitions Chiefs) will no longer play an active role the scholarship program.  However, the AFCOMAC Scholarship fund managed under the laws of California will fund all 2024 awarded scholarships.

Beginning in 2024, the ACA Board of Directors (BOD) will make up the Scholarship Selection Committee to review, approve, and prioritize all scholarship applications.  As such the ACA BOD will determine which applications receive Scholarship awards and how much funds will be awarded to each.

All scholarship applicants must submit their applications to ACA BOD prior to 1 June of each year following the information and guidelines for eligibility, requirements, application form, and administration located below.

NOTE: Eligibility is not limited to citizens of the U.S. However, applicants must be attending a U.S. institution of higher learning.

DONATING TO THE CHIEF GAUVIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND:

In the future, as in the past, the Scholarship Fund is 100-percent reliant on donations to continue support to the AMMO community as was originally intended. Historically, 65-percent of all scholarship donations derive from AFCOMAC classes and 35-percent derive from funds collected at MAJCOM conferences or from private donations. For this Scholarship program to remain as is AFCOMAC classes, Ammo Troops worldwide, and other private donors must donate to raise funds and contribute to the scholarship. It will require AMMO leaders from active, reserve, guard, and retired venues to actively solicit, collect, and donate funds for this program to survive. Anything short of that can only result in the Scholarship either ending or scholarships awards will be significantly reduced.

To assist with fund raising to support AMMO Scholarships, ACA has created a donation process via PayPal where individuals may donate via a monthly subscription or a one-time donation. Donors may also donate via Venmo or mail a check. See below for more details.
