XII Annual Worldwide AMMO Bowl was held at Langley this past weekend.
Participating teams were Seymour Johnson (Defending
Champs), Shaw, Langley, and ACC HQ.

The champions of the XII Annual Worldwide AMMO Bowl was
Shaw AFB which dominated the field with no losses during the
tournament.
The HQ ACC Team took second place and Seymour-Johnson
AFB took
third.
Honors:
- The "Slugfest" Trophies went to AMMO Troop "Edwin
Commit" from Langley and AMMO Troop "Ryan Ducat" from Seymour Johnson
- The "Golden Homerun" Trophy went to AMMO Troop " David Gardner"
from Shaw
- The "MVP" Trophy went to AMMO Troop "Travis Middleton" from Shaw

| MEMORANDUM FOR WORLDWIDE AMMO BOWL XII PARTICIPANTS |

| SUBJECT: Worldwide AMMO Bowl XII Softball Tournament |
1. The 2005 Worldwide AMMO Bowl XII softball tournament will be held at Langley AFB, Virginia. The Virginia area offers an excellent venue for this tournament and we are sure you will enjoy yourself while you visit here. We at the Pentagon hope you will grace us with your presence and we look forward to providing a softball tournament of worldwide proportions. The dates for the Worldwide AMMO Bowl XII tournament will be September 3-5, 2005.
2. The entry fee will be $350.00 per team. Send me your intent to participate as soon as possible but NLT August 5, 2005, to include a POC name, DSN number and e-mail address. Entrance fees must be received NLT August 5, 2005. This is an open invitational tournament, any base may enter a team and since this is a Worldwide AMMO Bowl softball tournament; eligible players must be active duty, reserve, guard, retired 2W0X1’s, 2W2X1’s and support personnel assigned directly to the unit and working within the MSA (example: 3A0X1 working as the Munitions Flight Admin-OK, Security police who works the gate-not OK). No "All Star" teams allowed. Other AFSC situations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis with the Tournament Director.
3. If you cannot field a team, but would like to participate in the Worldwide AMMO Bowl, contact the tournament director. He will put your players in a pool and form combined teams as the tournament draws closer. There will be an extension on the deadline for entry fees if you chose this option.
4. Lodging is the responsibility of each team. We recommend permissive TDY orders for the duration of the tournament including travel days. Limited base billeting is available at Langley. To make reservations, contact them directly at DSN 574-2606, email dana.seefeldt@langley.af.mil or central billeting number DSN 574-4667. There are numerous hotels/motels in the Langley area. The Langley Billeting Office can provide phone numbers and room rates.
5. Coaches and/or ranking individuals are ultimately responsible for team conduct. We recommend the appointment of designated drivers. Please remember that Virginia state law forbids the sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. We want everyone to have a great time! Use some common sense and watch out for your AMMO brothers.

The following information package is provided to assist units intending on traveling to Langley AFB, VA for this year’s Worldwide AMMO Bowl XI softball tournament. Additional information may be obtained by contacting the tournament director.

This tournament is tentative based on unit participation. The number of teams entered will have an impact on the tournament schedule and events. This is an open invitational tournament, in that any team that wants to enter from any base can. As host, we reserve the right to make the necessary changes if the need arises. We will attempt to make prompt modification of any significant changes to this program.

Schedule of Events
Friday - September 2, 2005
1. Coaches meeting: There will be a meeting of all team coaches and umpires at the Langley Softball fields at 6 pm (1800hrs). Items to be covered will be:
a. Briefing on local safety, personnel conduct and DUI policy.
b. Ensure everyone knows schedule of events.
c. Go over the tournament rules one final time.
d. Round-robin selection
e. Answer questions from teams.
2. AMMO Call: There will be an AMMO Call following the coaches meeting. This event will be open to all participants and their families.
Saturday - September 3, 2005
1. Opening Ceremony: The opening ceremony will begin at approximately 0730 hrs at the ball fields. Teams are requested to show in their uniforms for photos. The ceremony will include:
a. National Anthem
b. Welcome (CMSgt Robertson)
2. Round-Robin: The first games of the tournament will begin after opening ceremonies on Fields 1 and 2 at Langley. Both fields are 300’ home plate to center field. This round-robin tournament will determine placement for the double elimination tournament to begin on Sunday, September 4th. (Schedule dependent on number of teams participating). Round-robin games will have the following criteria:
a. Games will have a 55-minute time limit or 7 innings.
b. Each batter begins with one strike and one ball when at bat.
c. The "10 runs after 5 innings" rule will be used, however the teams have the
option to play the entire 55 minutes. At the 55-minute point, the game will
be stopped immediately and the team with the highest score will be the winner.
d. Bracket seating for double elimination tournament: Each team will be seated
Totals games won, or in case of a tie,
Total runs, or in case of a tie,
Total runs scored in 1st inning, if a tie, 2nd inning, etc.
3. Food and refreshments will be available at the ball fields. NO BEVERAGES OR SMOKING ALLOWED ON THE BALL FIELDS DURING TOURNAMENT PLAY.
4. Tournament play will continue until approximately 2200 hours on Saturday.
Sunday - September 4, 2005
1. Round-Robin tournament continues: Teams will begin play at 0800 hrs and continue until double elimination slots are filled.
2. Home Run Slugfest: An hour after completion of the round-robin tournament, a Home Run Slugfest will be held. All team members are encouraged to participate.
a. Ten balls pitched to each home run contestant
b. Most home runs wins -- in case of a tie, another ten-ball round between those tied will be played to determine the winner. If more than one winner, both will be provided with a prize.
3. Double Elimination Play: The double elimination play will begin 45-minutes after completion of the slugfest. Double elimination game rules are:
a. A "10 run after 5 innings" rule will be in effect.
b. One-hour time limit or 7 innings, whichever comes first.
c. Each batter begins play with one strike and one ball when at bat.
4. Food and refreshments will be available at the ball fields. NO BEVERAGES OR SMOKING ALLOWED ON THE BALL FIELDS DURING TOURNAMENT PLAY.
5. Double elimination play will continue until approximately 2200 hours on Sunday.
Monday - September 5, 2005
1. Double Elimination play continues. Teams will begin play at 0800 hrs on their designated fields.
2. Championship Game: The Championship game will start approximately one hour after completion of the semi-final game. The championship game will be a 7-inning game with no time limit.
3. Presentation of team and individual trophies. This event will take place at the conclusion of the Championship game at the fields. The Tournament Director will present the trophies.
Trophies and Awards
1. We will award team trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. Individual trophies will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams and will be limited to 15 players from each team.
2. There will be a prize for the most home runs hit from the "Home Run Slugfest".
3. We will present a "Golden Home Run" trophy for the individual with the most home runs during the Championship Game. In case of a tie, two trophies will be presented.
4. There will also be a trophy for the "Most Valuable Player" to be selected by the coaches and identified to the Tournament Director at the end of the Championship Game.
Tournament Rules
1. ASA Rules apply, except for uniforms.
2. No home run limit in effect during any of the tournament games.
3. Umpires, scorekeepers and .44 Core softballs will be provided for all games.
4. Eligibility for team members are limited to active duty, reserve, guard, retired 2W0X1’s, 2W2X1’s and support personnel assigned directly to the unit and working within the MSA. Other AFSC situations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
5. Smaller units wishing to participate but unable to field a team can submit player’s names to the Tournament Director for a possible consolidated team.
Fields of Play
1. Two fields will be used for the Worldwide AMMO Bowl tournament, Fields 1 and 2 at Langley AFB, VA. Each field is 300’ from home plate to center field.
2. Round robin and double elimination play will use both fields. The Home Run Slugfest will use Field #2. The final Championship game will be played on Field #1.
3. Latrines are available by the fields for use during the AMMO Bowl tournament.

1. Military flights into Langley AFB may be available. Langley Base Operations phone number is DSN 574-8542. You will have to make arrangements with the Langley Motor Pool (DSN 574-5713) for transportation.
2. It’s the team’s responsibility to make billeting arrangements. Langley base billeting can be reached at:
